CARETAKER POSITION AVAILABLE
Veasey Memorial Park, a 47-acre town-owned nature preserve and function facility is seeking a new caretaker in a barter for living situation. In exchange for regular, (20hrs) part time work the caretaker will have a comfortable apartment (no pets) located in the parks main building.
Responsibilities include security, maintenance of the buildings and land, as well as the point of contact for on-site tenants. Assistance as necessary with ongoing events, classes, etc. The candidate will become an integral part of a team of persons who help manage and support the facility including attending regular meetings.
The ideal candidate will have an appreciation for local history and nature, possess abilities to work with many types of individuals and organizations, have good communications practices including routine use of e-mail, and have skills in a wide variety of areas such as plumbing, carpentry, electrical, landscaping, and forestry.
Day-in and day-out, for the most part, the caretaker will be self-directed to care for areas requiring attention with guidance from the management committee. An important aspect of this situation is maintenance of weekly work logs for historical reference and management review.
Satisfactory personal and work references as well as a background check are a requirement for this situation.
