A VERY BRIEF HISTORY...

In 1963, The Little Missionary Sisters of Charity cared for the space, sheltering adult women with special needs. In 1995, the sisters ended their mission in Groveland. The Catholic Church decided to sell the property at this time. The Town of Groveland, eager to protect the land for recreational and open space use, expressed interest in the property and began negotiations to purchase it.

The acquisition of the park was a significant event for the Town of Groveland. The purchase banded a group of residents together to accomplish the task and empower others to view the importance of open space to the town. This was the first open space purchase for the town. In 1996, Veasey became the first conservation property and park in town giving a focal point for civic events and recreation while serving the needs of many non-profit organizations. The park uses all funds generated from rentals and events to maintain the park and it's buildings.

The property is largely a glacial drumlin and has a variety of wildlife habitats including meadow, marsh, forest, and upland.
