Environmental Restoration at Veasey Memorial Park

Updated: Aug 27

Over ten years ago, the Groveland Gardening Club, local Masters Gardeners, the Management Committee, the Friends of Veasey, and interested, invested individuals have been combating detrimental species like invasive bittersweet and multiflora rose at Veasey Memorial Park. Through this dedicated effort, a re-wilding plan formed that will benefit both local wildlife and enrich, inspire, and educate the over 6,000 visitors who enjoy Veasey Memorial Park annually.

The Environmental Restoration event on April 14th, 2023 sponsored by a $3,000 grant provided by One Tree Planted made it possible for a group of volunteers to come together, turn under-used space, overrun with invasive species, into a thriving pollinator garden by replanting native trees, shrubs, grasses, and wildflowers at Veasey Park, and learning more about "No Mow May" with Massachusetts Master Gardeners and members of the Groveland Garden club. One Tree Planted is a socially-concerned, non-profit organization committed to making a global-impact by bringing communities together in an effort to help the environment through restoring forests, creating habitats for biodiversity, and making a positive social impact around the world. One Tree Planted's vision compliments that of the vibrant community committed to keeping Veasey Memorial Park an accessible, artistic, educational, public-spirited resource, open and welcoming to visitors and residents alike.
